Mike Zadick has just torn down the old Holiday Motors in Great Falls as one of the first steps in moving it to Augusta. His father, Bob Zadick, passed away in 2020, and the Holiday Motors was the first property he purchased. The people who bought the property in Great Falls planned to demo the building, but Mike negotiated that he would deconstruct the building, save what he could, and rebuild it in Augusta.
Mike bought property on Benchmark Road from Kathy (Klick) Robinson where he plans to rebuild the building. “Within the walls I will open up a kids wrestling club (Benchmark Wrestling) and pass on my experience and knowledge about the sport and how it relates to life. I plan to utilize the remaining space for a wellness/multi use facility for the community and its senior citizens” stated Mike.
Mike has had an extensive wrestling career which started when he was 5 years old. He competed in high school, college, and even in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Now with this opportunity to salvage his father’s building, he wants to pass that knowledge on to the Augusta community as well as provide a place with exercise equipment, and a full kitchen.
The planning for this project was started a year ago and will take some time to complete. Mike has already created a 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity named Benchmark Wrestling, and is looking for any donations, as well as information on potential grants, or any other help anyone may be able to provide. He can be reached at 319-541-0904 and found on Facebook.
In conclusion Mike stated, “I am extremely excited and motivated and will continue to work through the process of designing and detailing all expenses to make this happen!”
We look forward to seeing this process continue and hope to keep everyone updated in it’s progress.
