Race #3 & #4 were held June 17th and 18th. Both races were held on the Chase track, our longest track at .9 miles in length. Counter clockwise on Saturday, clockwise on Sunday!
Saturday: We had a few sprinkles on Saturday, but generally it was dry and lots of racing! Shifters had some good competition however lost Beau when he damaged his transmission. Jerry and Keith had a good battle at the start, however a spin (and nice recovery) put Keith 15-20 seconds behind, and while he closed in on Jerry, just couldn’t get close enough to challenge in the time left.
Junior likewise had awesome race craft, with close and furious racing between Nolan, Adeline, and Gabe. A tangle at end of the main race and Adeline was able to get clear first and snag the win with Nolan in second and Gabe in third.
Senior class ran without Chase who was away for the weekend, and it contained some close fighting with Travis, Beau, and Ted. James was having some carb issues which dropped him down. We had a good turnout and some really intense racing!
Sunday started out cold and wet. After a slow start we got out on the track and drove it dry. Really all the heavy rain showed up early, which allowed us to concentrate more on racing than weather forecasting.
While we lost some drivers, Sundays events were high speed and we got a lot of great racing in! We had a TON of corner people and even some new faces, it’s always so nice to see the positive growth in the club!
Sunday consisted of Junior TaG and Senior TaG, and they did not disappoint. Again great battles in Junior, seriously if you love to watch racing, you need to watch this, lots of close racing, and it’s hard to believe some of the kids have only been driving a year, sometimes less! Gabe took the top step, Nolan taking a consistent second, and Parker completing the podium.
Senior had a LOT of racers, and again mighty battles between Travis and Beau meant some great racing. James kept getting faster and faster as he sorted out his rebuilt engine and carb (they took the carburetor home and rebuilt it the night before) but he just couldn’t get dialed in enough to topple either Beau or Travis. Travis took top honors, with Beau on the second step, and James taking 3rd.
All in all some great racing, and very special thanks to all the volunteers that helped make a smooth race. Also special note to Mrs. Racow for bringing a VERY COOL father’s day cake for all the dads. It was sure a fun highlight to a great day of racing and fellowship with other racers!
Note: Standings show driver name – Adjusted Points – Total Points. A drivers worst two finishes for the season are dropped. The adjusted standings show how the season would finish if there were no more races. Points are official as of writing, if you notice an error, please nicely let the club know and we’ll get it all sorted out.
