Ask Oma

Posted on April 24, 2023April 24, 2023 by Karen McIlwain

Dear Oma,
Since my Mom passed away I just feel like I am going through the motions in life and can’t really enjoy myself.  I wonder if anyone else feels this way after losing a loved one, and what do you do about it?

Signed
Lost

Dear Lost,
Besides losing my dad, several cousins, aunts, uncles, and many friends, I can honestly say that losing kids is a real life changer. We lost a son in 2020 and another in 2022. Things are not the same and they never will be. You just have to try to keep going. Never forget the times you shared, but just keep moving along. Do things for them, do things in memory of them, do things for yourself and others, just keep doing.
Never give up, and always remember you have friends by your side.

Sincerely
Oma
