The holidays are less than a month away from starting a season of cheer and giving. Before you break out your wallet, do some planning. The average American home has over 300,000 items in it. Most of us have enough stuff and some of us don’t need anymore.
Think back on the holiday memories you treasure the most. They weren’t about stuff, but about celebrating with friends and family. Plan a get together in which you have some fun and spend time together. Take a drive through a lights festival, take a walk in nature, go on a hayride or sleigh ride, have a holiday movie night, go caroling, make holiday treats with your kids or grandkids, etc. The list is endless, but these are the things you will remember.
Don’t start the next year with a stack of bills. Be generous with a charity of your choice preferably one that is close to your family’s heart and a local one. Most of the money sent far away never reaches it’s intended recipients so check out who you are donating to. Augusta, Choteau and Montana have numerous places to donate so follow your heart and head with your money. Also remember that the gifts under the tree are not as important as the people around it!
